Below is a description of our vegetable garden. The seeds came from
vegetables we bought at the store. I picked the seeds out of the vegetable, let
them dry for a few hours then planted in small containers. I covered them with
clear plastic wrap and sat them in a warm window. The potato sprouts were a
bonus. As I gathered dirt from the compost, I found some full sized potatoes
that have been growing in there through the winter. I broke off a few sprouts
and buried them in dirt.
All seeds were planted March 11, 2001

Green Pepper | Only one seed out of the entire batch germinated and it's pretty pathetic looking but it's better than my attempts last year which yielded nothing. |
Red Pepper | Seeds grew very well. Planted 4 of the best plants in individual containers on 4/1/2001. |
Jalapeno Pepper | Nothing but weeds grew in the container. |
Cucumber | Nothing but weeds grew in the container. I tried with a new batch of seeds with no luck again. |
Cherry Tomato | Seeds grew very well. Planted 4 of the best plants in individual containers on 4/1/2001. |
Potato | All four of the potato sprouts grew very well. |
Here's our 5' X 5' garden that was dug on April 8th. It's about
a foot deep. The bottom half was clay so I mixed in some compost for
nutrients and let it sit for a couple weeks to make sure it was worked
into the soil. I turned the soil April 19th and planted April 22nd. The
garden is on the left side of the house (if your facing the house) which
receives the most sun of the yard, with the exception of the front yard.
Since my cucumbers and jalapenos seeds didn't do anything, I went out
and bought 4 cucumber plants, a yellow bell pepper plant, and a hot
banana pepper plant.

We have small peppers and small cucumbers. We don't have any cherry
tomotoes yet, but there are blooms.
